What makes Community Hospice different?
Our Philosophy
In the United States, hospice was originally run by volunteers who cared for dying patients. In the 1980s, Medicare authorized formal hospice care and Medicare hospice benefits became part of Medicare. Currently in the U.S. alone there are thousands of hospice agencies and this branch of the medical field continues to grow. However, for many of these companies, hospice has evolved into a “business of healthcare.” They are often nationally-owned and controlled by stockholders, and must answer to Wall Street. We stand in stark contrast to that philosophy. Community Hospice is locally owned and managed and understands the stresses that can be associated with dealing with a life-limiting illness. We are deeply rooted in the communities we serve, and to the people who live and die there.
We believe this is life’s most important journey. We consider it an honor to be able to travel this road with you and provide you and your loved ones with the support needed to be able to enjoy time together versus being consumed with the symptoms of an illness. This should be a time for families to be families.
Our Staff
All members of the Community Hospice care team have hands-on experience with critically ill patients and expertise in pain and symptom management. No matter the life-limiting illness, our staff is strategically placed throughout our service area for a rapid response time.
Community Hospice nurses are special people as they eloquently deal with the powerful emotional that accompany their work. They do what they do because they know how important and what a meaningful impact their work has on others.
Availability
We have an on-site Clinical Transition RN 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assess and facilitate patients and their family members to the appropriate level of hospice care. The RN will be there every step of the way to transition the patient to the next level of care when needed.
