For the second year, Community Hospice Foundation was honored to recognize some of our favorite veterans from the William F. Green Veterans Home by arranging a “Heroes Flight” at Naval Air Station Pensacola.
Local veterans from WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars were escorted by Escambia County Sheriff’s Department to the National Naval Aviation Museum, where they were treated to a sitdown lunch and exchanged stories from their glory days with future veterans and one another.
Upon arriving the veterans were greeted by sailors stationed at NAS Pensacola who escorted them throughout lunch and tour. It was a joyous and emotional day, and we look forward to carrying on this event and tradition for years to come.
