Hospice and palliative care is largely built around the idea of comfort. We want to use our tools and training to make people feel comfortable and help them face significant illness with dignity. While most of what we do is clinical in nature, we also want to spend time taking care of spirits, as that can be just as important.
One way we do that is to help spread cheer to local seniors through pet therapy. The idea behind pet therapy is pretty simple – pets are adorable and spending time around them puts us in a better mood. When we’re in a better mood, our bodies work better.
Our team recently paid a visit to our friends William F. Green State Veterans Home, to help spread love in our community through pet therapy. We brought along “Grizzly”, one of our amazing pet therapy volunteers to spend some quality time with some of our favorite veterans. The best part of using pet volunteers is that not only do our seniors love the company, but our canine friends like Grizzly here also feed off the affection. It’s a giant circle of love and we’re thrilled to help be a part of it.
We can’t wait to continue to share the love with more folks in the future!
