Community Hospice Foundation was proud to honor veterans from William F. Green Veterans Home by arranging a “Heroes Flight”. Veterans from WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars were escorted by Escambia County Sheriff’s Department to the National Naval Aviation Museum. Upon arriving the veterans were greeted by sailors stationed at NAS Pensacola who escorted them throughout lunch and tour. Capt. Terrence Shashaty, commanding officer, NAS Pensacola, was also on hand to greet the group of 45 Veterans. The visit was arranged by the National Naval Aviation Museum and the Community Hospice Foundation.
It was an amazing event for an amazing group of selfless folks, and we were so happy to help in planning. Local news outlets were on hand, and we’ve shared a news story above and photo gallery below to share with those who were not able to attend.
All in attendance were further honored to be the recipients of a flyover performed by none other than the Blue Angels. As was reported, there were no dry eyes after this memorable occasion.
Special thanks to all who participated in making the event so memorable for the honored guests!
